\forall t \in [0, 1], \forall x, y \in C, f (t x + (1 - t) y) \leq t f (x) + (1 - t) f (y) .

$f$ si dice strettamente convessa se inoltre

\forall t \in (0, 1), \forall x, y \in C, x \neq y, f (t x + (1 - t) y) < t f (x) + (1 - t) f (y) .
